In the periodic table, it is a d-block transactinide element. It is a member of the 7th period and is placed in the group 11 elements, although no chemical experiments have been carried out to confirm that it behaves as the heavier homologue to gold in group 11 as the ninth Muons in roentgenium (Rg) Z A [g/mol] ρ [g/cm3] I [eV] a k = m s x0 x1 C δ0 111 (Rg) [282.167(5)] ??

It is an extremely radioactive synthetic element that can be created in a laboratory but is not found in nature. The most stable known isotope, roentgenium-282, has a half-life of 100 seconds, although the unconfirmed roentgenium-286 may have a longer half-life of about 10.7 minutes. [14] In 1895, Röntgen recognized x-rays as a unique type of rays with special properties that made them uniquely useful in a variety of applications. Roentgenium itself, however, has no commercial applications and much remains unknown about its properties due to its extremely short half-life.
Their use has subsequently revolutionized medicine, found wide application in technology and heralded the age of modern physics, which is based on atomic and nuclear properties. In 1901, six years after their discovery, the benefit of X-rays to mankind was so evident that Roentgen was awarded the first Nobel Prize in Physics.
The chemical symbol for Roentgenium is Rg . Atomic … Roentgenium is calculated to have similar properties to its lighter homologues — copper, silver and gold — although it may show some differences as well. It is predicted to be a noble metal, and it is expected to be a solid under normal conditions and to crystallize in the body-centered cubic structure. Nuclear Properties Note to students and other readers: This Chapter is intended to supplement Chapter 3 of Krane’s excellent book, ”Introductory Nuclear Physics”.
Roentgenium is a chemical element with the symbol Rg and atomic number 111.

Properties of atomic nuclei (atomic mass, nuclear cross-sections) are determined by the number of protons and number of neutrons (neutron number). It must be noted, especially nuclear cross-sections may vary by many orders from nuclide with the neutron number N to nuclide with the neutron number N+1. Roentgenium is a synthetic radioactive metal, created via nuclear bombardment, and has only been produced in minute amounts. Roentgenium is produced by bombarding 209 Bi with 64 Ni in a heavy ion accelerator. Technical data for Roentgenium Click any property name to see plots of that property for all the elements. Nuclear Properties: Half-Life: 10 m: Lifetime: 14.5 m: Roentgenium (111 Rg) is a synthetic element, and thus a standard atomic weight cannot be given.
The first isotope to be synthesized was 272Rg in 1994, which is also the only directly synthesized isotope; all others are decay products of nihonium
Roentgenium. From its position in the periodic table, in group 11 below gold, this element should have the physical properties of a noble metal and, were it long enough lived it should be possible to make compound of it although, like gold, it might be reluctant to form them. Roentgenium is an extremely radioactive chemical element with symbol Rg and atomic number 111.

Roentgenium atoms have 111 electrons and the shell structure is 2.8.18.32.32.18.1.. The ground state electron configuration of ground state gaseous neutral roentgenium is [Rn].5f 14.6d 10.7s 1 (a guess based upon that of gold) and the term symbol is 2 S 1/2 (a guess based upon guessed electronic structure). Roentgenium was in fact discovered 10 years earlier on December 8, 1994, by a team of 13 nuclear physicists working at the Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung at Darmstadt in Germany carried out an experiment, bombarding a target of 209Bi with 64Ni ions.
